Plastic

It is estimated that plastic trash in our oceans (that comesfrom us, here on land) kills approximately 1.5 million marine animals per year.

Twelve Pound Plastic:
A water bottle that I cast out of iron to portray the 'weight' of plastic.

Plastic and other trash I have collected along the beach for future sculptures.

World Wide Anti-Whaling Day

5 November 2010 is Worldwide Anti-Whaling Day

"Protest the illegal whaling of the Japanese Whaling fleet! Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. Where once these whales had the freedom to move around, to swim and dive at their own leisure; they now have harpoon ships circling around them and factory ships ready to slaughter them."

Knowledge is power. It's important to not turn our backs and pretend issues such as these don't exist or that there's nothing that can be done to end it. It's not simply that these creatures are killed for meat; it's how it's done and that it's done illegally and unsustainably. I don't believe that anything from the ocean should be harvested and treated as an unlimited resource.

All life depends on the health of the Oceans.
